Coín will host the XXXV edition of the Provincial Contest of Tunas de Málaga

The event, which will bring together six tunas and the Rondalla de Huertas Viejas de Coín, will take place on September 30 and October 1. It is the first contest that has been held since the Covid-19 pandemic emerged. The XXXV edition of the Provincial Contest of Tunas de Málaga will be held in Coín on September 30 and October 1. This was announced today by the Councilor for Culture and Celebrations, Dori Luque, who was accompanied by the Councilor for Education, Raquel López, the director of the Rondalla of the Huertas Viejas school, Antonio Sánchez; and the head of the Tuna de Magisterio de Málaga, José Mohedano, as co-organizers. "It is an honor to host an event of the relevance and tradition of this tunas contest in Malaga, for the joy it will bring to the streets of Coín and for the revitalization of the activity and the local hospitality that it will promote", Luque highlighted. The contest will have parades, rounds, a conference, hospitality entertainment and concerts. “We come to Coín with great desire and enthusiasm because this is the first event that we have held after the Covid-19 pandemic. This city turns to us every time we have acted and we are sure that this will be the case this coming weekend ”, Sánchez assured, on his part.

The following corporations will participate in this thirty-fifth tuna contest: the Men's Tuna of Medina de Málaga, the Feminine Tuna of Medicine of Málaga, the Feminine Tuna of Health Sciences of Málaga, the Masculine Tuna of Philosophy and Letters, the Tuna of Magisterio de Málaga, the Tuna Universitaria de Salamanca as a guest star out of competition, and the Rondalla of the Huertas Viejas school, as a local group. "We deserve to receive an event of the relevance and depth of this tunas contest, because we also live in a city where we bet and value our traditions and our folklore very much, so I am sure it will be a success", revealed Dori Luque . The director of the Rondalla has affirmed that the acts coincide with the International Day of the Elderly, for which reason a large part of the performances and intonations that they carry out will be dedicated to this audience in our city. “We invite all the elders of Coín

Programming Regarding the programming, everything will begin on Friday, September 30, with a conference entitled 'La tuna del ayer, del hoy y del mañana', which will be offered by Rafael Asencio González, from the Tuna de Medicina de Córdoba; Eduardo Maestre Cuadrado, from the tuna of Philosophy and Letters of Seville; Rafael García Santalla, from the Tuna Universitaria de Salamanca, and José Manuel Herrero Martín, from the Tuna de Magisterio de Segovia. At night, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. they will be in the Rodeo area to liven up the local hospitality. On Saturday the morning will begin with a parade from 11:30 a.m. in the Plaza de la Villa, until reaching the Alameda passing through the Plaza del Pescao, Escamilla and Vicario street. "The parade is part of the contest, they will perform themes, they will go rounds to balconies and open shops in the center and they will interact with people who are on the street," explained Sánchez. At 1:00 p.m. the round contest will take place in the old Convent of Santa María de la Encarnación and, finally, the climax will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Alameda pavilion where there will be performances for all audiences. The Councilor for Culture and Celebrations wanted to encourage all citizens, especially the elderly of Coín, due to this event, "so that they come, enjoy and participate in this great event." In turn, both the councilor and the co-organizers of the event wanted to thank all the collaborating entities such as the Faculty of Teaching of the University of Malaga, the laCaixa Foundation, the Hotel Albaicín and Burger King, both establishments in Coin.
